Alexandria Performing Arts Association
The Alexandria Performing Arts Association (APAA) is an all volunteer, non-profit organization.
It is one of Alexandria’s oldest arts organizations (founded in 1968). Our primary purpose is simple.
We exist to: Host the Arts in Alexandria.
Our mission:
- Offer high-quality, affordable performance events in Alexandria;
- Create performance opportunities for aspiring artists and arts organizations
- Encourage culturally diverse programs for underserved audiences;
- Provide organizational/fiscal support to start-up art groups.
APAA current activities include:
- The Guest Artist Performance Series providing high-quality performance events with emphasis on local talent and diversity of offerings.
- Arts Educational Events. At present a competition is sponsored in music for students in middle and high school.
- Encouragement to Arts Organizations. APAA is currently offering support to:
- Enchanted Strings, a unique multi-cultured ensemble offering original music and dance.
- Beneath the Veil. A theatre troupe with a message.
- BosmaDance a dance troupe dedicated to the promotion of contemporary dance as a powerful form of communication and expression;
- Yockadot Poetics Theatre Project is a newly organized series of events featuring contemporary poetry and theatre.
- Deviated Art Dance, theatrical lighting and effects, various visual arts, photojournalism and more by Enoch Chan.
- Living Legends of Alexandria. A unique photojournalism undertaking aimed at capturing contemporary Alexandria history.
